Chief LeCompte Letter to Community Regarding Civil Unrest

NTPD HQAccreditation Patch

To our Northampton Township Community,

The senseless death of George Floyd in Minneapolis has spurred peaceful protest, meaningful dialogue, civil disorder, and crime in our region and throughout our country. Understandably, many residents and business owners are concerned that we may experience crime and disorder here.  Our police department is committed to ensuring the safety of everyone in Northampton Township so that criminal incidents do not occur in our community.

Northampton Township Police Department provides professional police services and protection through leadership and partnering with our community.  We rely on members of the community to report suspicious activity and crime so that we can take police action when needed.  You can help us by simply calling 911 for emergencies or calling (215) 357- 8700 for non-emergencies or just to provide us information.  Northampton officers are here to help.

Northampton Township Police Department is a state accredited agency.  That means that our department and its officers have high standards, and follow best police practices and procedures.  All of our officers are highly trained and ready to handle difficult policing issues.

The Northampton Police Department is part of the South Central SERT Team and a member of Bucks County Major Incident Response Team.  These specially trained teams are always available to handle critical incidents in Northampton Township.  Both teams offer additional support and equipment to patrol officers when needed.

Our police department has established mutual aid agreements with other police departments in Bucks County.  This provides our department additional manpower and support if we are ever in need.  Relationships with other departments and organizations also afford us the opportunity to obtain and share intelligence with other agencies so that we can address potential threats. We and our partners are constantly monitoring the civil unrest in our region to help ensure the public safety needs of our residents.

Currently, our department is fully staffed, fully operational, and ready to respond to any incident.  I personally want to thank the Northampton Community for the ongoing support that our department enjoys and we will never take it for granted. I will assure you that we will do everything we can to keep all people and property safe within our jurisdiction while respecting every persons constitutional rights.
